We design, build and test an autonomous underwater vehicle at McMaster University, and take it to the international RoboSub competition hosted by RoboNation.
What we do
Design
Power, acoustic, propulsion and microcontroller boards, plus the mechanical frame that holds them.
Build
Droppers, torpedoes, thruster mounts, cameras and sensors, fabricated and installed by students.
Test and compete
Pool testing, then RoboSub, where teams from around the world show off marine robotics.

PCB fabrication
Designing and testing the PCB’s that tie our mechanical and software systems together.
Sensors and vision
Developing the brain of our AUV by turning processing sensor input into AUV actions.
Mechanisms
Creating and testing the mechanical components like the Dropper, torpedo, thrusters and mounts.

About the team
McMaster RoboSub is a student-driven initiative focused on the design, construction and testing of an autonomous underwater vehicle (AUV). Our members come from diverse backgrounds and share one goal: to push innovation, teamwork and technical excellence.
Mission
To advance the field of underwater robotics and autonomous systems through research, design and hands-on development. We help students apply their engineering knowledge to real-world challenges while building innovation, teamwork and sustainable technological growth.
